Relay Team Buckley, Clipper, Reisman, and Schumacher Set Program Record at Widener Final Qualifier

CHESTER, Pa. – The Catholic women's track team traveled to Widener University to compete in their Final Qualifier in hopes of competing top times to clinch an NCAA berth. 

The 4x100m relay team started the day out with a new program best time of 47.89. The group consisted of Erin Buckley, Kortney Clipper, Ainsley Reisman, and Sarah Schumacher. This is the first time in program history that the Cardinals have run below 48 seconds. 

In the 400m hurdles, Mia McConnell ran a 1:02.79, the current Division III 31st best time and a personal best. She remains in the program record books with the third best time. McConnell also qualified for the 100m hurdles finals with a time of 16.51.

The Cardinals had a handful of athletes compete in the 100m prelims, with Erin Buckley advancing to the finals with her seventh place time of 12.63. In the finals, Buckley ran 12.73 and placed sixth. Clipper ran 12.71 with Reisman following just behind with 12.83. Schumacher clocked 12.92. Felicity Giampietro ran a time of 13.51.

Zoey Brown ran 1:00.76 in the 400m race as the lone Cardinal.

In the 200m, Clipper placed fourth with a time of 25.55. Schumacher ran a time of 26.23. Reisman logged 26.40 and Giampietro ran 27.35. 

In the 800m, Mya Sampong finished with a time of 2:20.19. Alexa Grassi logged 2:21.29 in the event.

Olivia Sobkowicz represented Catholic in the 1500m. The freshman ran a time of 4:47.86. 

In the 5000m, Bridgid Cavanaugh ran 18:42.92. This personal best places her into the program record books with the ninth best time. 

In the long jump, Kate Quashne reached 4.74m. In the triple jump she reached 10.29m. 

Up next, the Cardinals will wait and see if any of them earned the national nod to travel to the NCAA Championships. Selections will be released on Friday, May 15th.
