TOWSON, Md. - The Landmark Conference has selected Kelly Bunnick of the Catholic women's lacrosse team as their Defensive Athlete of the Week, it was announced today. This is the first honor of career.

Bunnick had a stellar week, playing a crucial role on the Cardinal defense as they went 1-1 on the week. Catholic first faced off against No. 15 Rowan, falling in the close contest 13-9. Bunnick led the team with three caused turnovers, while also scooping up three ground balls.

In Catholic's second game of the week against Drew, Bunnick continued to be a strong force on defense. She logged five caused turnovers against the Rangers, and scooped up three more ground balls. Bunnick also recorded two draw controls in the match up.

The sophomore from Moorestown, New Jersey, has appeared in 11 games this season, making nine starts. She currently leads the team with 20 caused turnovers, and is third in ground balls with 19.

Bunnick joins teammates Maggie Traynor and Grace Button who each received their first Landmark Athlete of the Week honors earlier this season.

Up next, Catholic will hit the road to battle against Elizabethtown on Wednesday, April 8. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wolf Field.
