Men's Tennis Stops Scranton in Regular Season Finale

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Catholic men's tennis team hosted Scranton at the United States Naval Academy on Saturday afternoon for their final battle of the regular season. The Cardinals were able to stop the Royals, defeating them 6-1. 

Catholic took an early lead with wins across all three doubles courts. Jay Harper and Nathaniel Barish picked up a win on court three, defeating their Scranton opponents 6-2. Paulo Emanuelli and Lorenzo Neri captured a win in the two spot, 6-4. James Earwood and Diego Romo secured the sweep with a win on court one, 6-4. This marks a major milestone for Romo, who earned his 100th career victory.

In singles, five Cardinals won in straight sets. Neri faced Ethan Borick on court one, winning 6-1, 6-0. Jake Hershey battled Nathan Harrison in the three spot, defeating him 6-1, 6-3. 

Henry Ogden and Barish both contributed points for the Cardinals in the match. Ogden took on Ben Blum on court four, winning 6-2, 6-1. Barish captured another point for Catholic in the six spot, winning 6-1, 6-3.

Stefano Gasasira had a stellar day, shutting out his opponent, Ethan Germain, 6-0, 6-0. Catholic ultimately secured the victory over the Royals, winning 6-1. 

With this win, the Cardinals finish the regular season with an overall record of 14-7, going 8-1 in conference play. Up next, Catholic will begin postseason play in the Landmark Conference Tournament that begins on Tuesday, April 28.
