Cardinals Complete Regular Season at Spartan Invitational

YORK, Pa.  – The Catholic women's team wrapped up its appearance at the Spartan Invitational on Monday afternoon, the final match of the season before the conference championships. After shooting a team score of 324 during the first round on Sunday, the Cardinals added four strokes to their Monday score to finish with a 652 over the two rounds to come in third place out of the four teams.

The top finisher over the two rounds for the Cardinals was Brooke Smith who shaved one stroke off of her first round score, shooting a 78 (+6) to finish in second place in the field of 24. Her best stretch on day two was when she picked up five consecutive pars on holes 14 through 18 as she concluded her round with 11 pars and a birdie.

Meghan Mullen broke 80 in her first round with a 77, the best round by a Catholic player over the weekend, where she sunk a birdie as well as 11 pars. She had a six-hole stretch on the back nine where she parred five and birdied the other. Mullen shot an 88 during the second round to remain in the top half of the field. 

Gabi Courtney and Mary McGuire each had identical rounds in both as they each shot an 83 on Monday to improve by a stroke from their first round scores. McGuire tallied multiple birdies to go along with six pars in her second round while Courtney totaled seven pars and a bridie.

The final competitor for Catholic was Harper Capilli who improved during her second round to shoot an 84. She completed the second round with six pars and a birdie to take 16 strokes off her first round score.

Next up for the Cardinals will be the Landmark Conference Championship which starts on Saturday April 25 at the Shawnee Golf Course. Catholic will look to capture its fourth consecutive conference crown.
