Clipper Bests Her Own Program Record at Second Day of Legacy Meet

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Catholic women's track and field team returned to Morgan State to compete in the second and final day of the Legacy Meet. 

The Cardinals were well represented in the 200m, with Kortney Clipper shattering the school record, which she set in the previous weekend. The sophomore ran a personal best time of 25.34 in the event and finished 19th out of 65 athletes. Sarah Schumacher logged a time of 26.00, a personal best, and moved to fourth in the program record books. Erin Buckley tallied a season best time of 26.21. Felicity Giampietro ran 27.33 in the event.

Brigid Byrnes and Mia McConnell started the day on a high note for the Cardinals in the 400m hurdles. Byrnes recorded a season best with a time of 1:03.49 and now holds the Division III 25th best time this season. McConnell took on a season best time of 1:04.00. She now owns the 36th best Division III time. Alicia Vo also competed in the event and earned a season best time of 1:09.75. 

In the 1500m, Olivia Sobkowicz ran a personal best time of 4:47.14. With this, the freshman enters the program record books with the eighth best time. Sara Roberts and Margaret Glenn also ran personal bests, 5:22.23 and 5:48.21, respectively. 

Buckley, Clipper, Ainsley Reisman, and Schumacher represented Catholic in the 4x100m relay. The squad ran a time of 48.80. Despite it not being the group's personal best, this is the program's fourth best time.

In the 100m hurdles prelims, Lauryn Pearson collected a personal best with a time of 15.47. This is the third best time in program history. Byrnes and McConnell finished back-to-back with times of 16.14 and 16.43, respectively. Chloe Dodd rounded out the group with her time of 17.01.

A handful of Cardinals ran in the 100m race. Buckley was the fastest Cardinal of the bunch with her time of 12.52. Schumacher recorded a time of 12.69, while Reisman ran 12.88. Giampietro logged 13.13 in the event.

Zoey Brown earned a season best in the 400m with her time of 1:00.48. Riley Walsh earned a personal best with 1:01.12. Corina Colmenares Bittar also recorded a best time, 1:05.40. 

In the 800m, Mya Sampong logged 2:22.32. Bridgid Cavanaugh ran 2:26.36, a personal best. Erin Roche also tallied up a personal best with 2:28.30. Kate Hannan followed up with 2:32.12, a personal best.

In the 4x400m, McConnell, Byrnes, Brown, and Sampong recorded a season best in the event. The crew ran 3:58.11, the current 40th best Division III time. This is the sixth best time in program history. 

Three Cardinals participated in the shot put. Caroline Welsh reached a distance of 10.50m with her throw. Kaelyn Boodlal reached 9.23m, a personal best. Bethany Riddle logged 8.64m. 

Dodd represented Catholic in the pole vault, reaching a height of 3.01m. This is the program's third best height. 

In the long jump, Kate Quashne reached a distance of 5.20m. Pearson jumped 4.78m. Alyssa Oscar posted a season best with 4.70m. Erin Driscoll reached 4.23m.

Riddle threw a distance of 29.25m in discus. 

Up next, the Cardinals will travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the Penn Relays on Thursday, April 23rd.
