Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic women's tennis team hosted the Saints of Marymount on Thursday afternoon for another Pope's Cup matchup. Catholic secured their third straight sweep in the meeting with a 7-0 win.
Catholic jumped out to an early lead with a win in two doubles matches.
Shloka Tambat and
Annie Nemoy earned a 6-2 victory over Sofi Ploktin and Avery DeFazio in the one spot.
Sam D'Addezio and
Ava Kaloustian followed with a 6-2 win on court two to clinch the doubles point.
Ryan Adesso and
Marcela Pena battled in the three spot, falling 7-6 (7-1).
The Cardinals continued to build on their lead in singles play with victories in all six matches. Tambat defeated Marymount's DeFazio on court one, winning 6-1 in both sets. Nemoy followed, with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Ploktin in the two spot.
In three singles,
Ella Knox fought against Olivia Clontz, ultimately defeating her 6-4, 6-3. Kaloustian, Pena, and Adesso also contributed straight-set victories to Catholic's sweep. Kaloustian took down Peyton Johnson 6-4, 6-0, while Pena locked in a win over Alejandra Gallegos, 6-2, 6-1. Adesso competed against Sophia Bernitt, winning 6-0, 6-2 as the Cardinals locked in the victory.
Up next, Catholic will host Drew on Saturday, April 18 for another Landmark Conference match. The meeting is set to begin at 1 p.m on the Dowd Family Tennis Courts.
