Cardman Receives Second Landmark Pitcher of the Week Honor

TOWSON, Md.  – Junior pitcher Luke Cardman was named the Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week after two strong performances on the mound for the Cardinals, it was announced today. It is the second time this season that Cardman has earned the award as well as the second time in his career.

Overall for the week, Cardman tossed 13 innings over his two starts and only allowed two runs to finish with a 1.38 ERA on the week with a 2-0 record to help extend Catholic's win streak to five. He opened the week against Scranton with a career-high tying seven inning performance where he allowed just one run with four strikeouts. Cardman kept that momentum rolling into his second start of the week against Moravian when he pitched six more innings while only allowing one run once again with four more punch outs. 

For the season, Cardman has the lowest ERA among qualified Catholic pitchers with a 3.55 which also ranks fourth among all Landmark qualified pitchers this season. His four wins also rank in a tie for third and he ranks ninth in innings pitched with 38. He is also tied for 10th in the conference in strikeouts with 31.

THe Cardinals are back in action Tuesday, April 14 for a Landmark contest against Elizabethtown. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 pm at Talbot Field.
