Catholic Places Seventh at Cardinal Spring Classic

HAGERSTOWN, Md.  – The Catholic men's golf team finished up the Cardinal Spring Classic with a seventh place finish on Sunday afternoon after shooting a 318 as a team to finish with a two-round score of 646. 

Matthew Begg led the charge for the Cardinals by shooting a 75 in his second round, tying his career lowest score in a round. In his round, he totaled 11 pars and two birdies, including a stretch on the front nine where he parred six and birdied one over a seven hole stretch. Overall, Begg finished in a tie for 12th in the field. 

Matching Begg in a tie for 12th was Timothy Cleary who shot a 79 during his round to finish the weekend. Cleary finished with 10 pars and two birdies on Sunday and parred three consecutive holes on the front nine.

Timothy Doheny shot an 81 during his second round to take four strokes off his first round score. He picked up pars on five consecutive holes on the back nine and also added in two birdies on the day. Jack Davenport and Joe Earley also competed, shooting an 83 and 84 respectively.

Catholic's 'B' team was led by Matthew Dietl who broke 80 with a 77 as he finished with 11 pars and a birdie. Connor Desjardins also had a solid round with a 81 with one birdie and nine pars.

The Cardinals are back in action on Thursday, April 16 at the Stevenson Spring Invitational at Piney Branch Golf Club.
