Clipper Shatters Two Program Records at Bison Classic, Handful of Cardinals Compete at Bison Outdoor

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The women's track and field team traveled to neighboring Gallaudet to compete in the Bison Classic, hosted by both Gallaudet and Howard. A group from the Catholic women's track and field team traveled up to Bucknell University to compete in the Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. 

BISON CLASSIC

Erin Buckley, Kortney Clipper, Ainsley Reisman, and Sarah Schumacher took the top spot in the 4x100m with the new DIII 27th best time of 48.08. This time places the squad into the record books with the second best time, topping their previous program second best time set last weekend. 

Clipper ran a personal best in the 200m of 25.76, smashing the program record. She now sits at the top of the program list.

Clipper qualified for the 100m finals with her personal best time of 12.33. Buckley qualified with a time of 12.40. In the finals, Clipper logged 12.33. Buckley chalked up a time of 12.55 in the finals. Schumacher raced in the finals with a time of 12.82. With her time of 12.33, Clipper shattered her own school record, resetting the program best in the event.


In the 100m hurdles qualifying race, Brigid Byrnes ran a time of 15.96. Rachel Sprauer ran a season best 17.24. Chloe Dodd logged 17.49. Corina Colmenares Bittar rounded out the crew with a season best 17.54. 

Kate Hannan and Sara Roberts finished back-to-back in the 800m. Hannan ran a season best 2:36.78. Roberts collected a personal best 2:39.20. 

Byrnes earned first place in the 400m hurdles with her season best time of 1:04.27. This is also the DIII 32nd best time. Mia McConnell finished in second with her season best time of 1:04.30. After finishing just behind her teammate, she earned the 33rd best DIII time in the event. Sprauer also collected a personal best with 1:10.52 and tenth best program time. Colmenares Bittar chalked up a personal best of 1:14.40. Kiera Webster ran a 1:14.80 in the event.

A handful of other Cardinals also competed in the 200m. Schumacher recorded a time of 26.48. Zoey Brown, Reisman, and Felicity Giampietro all finished back-to-back-to-back. Brown ran 26.80 and Reisman ran 27.30. Giampietro logged a season best 27.31. Alicia Vo recorded a time of 27.65. Riley Walsh ran a 27.86, a personal best. Catalina Zumbado and Emily McDermond both logged season bests, 30.48 and 30.83 respectively. 

In the 5000m, Margaret Glenn ran a personal best 22:57.60. 

McConnell, Byrnes, Brown, and Walsh represented the Cardinals in the 4x400m. The crew ran a season best time of 4:07.09. 

In the pole vault, Dodd reached a height of 3.05m. 

Erin Driscoll reached 4.56m in the long jump. Alyssa Oscar reached a season best 4.54m in the event. 

Oscar also competed in the triple jump. She reached 9.81m. 

In the discus, Bethany Riddle earned a season best with her 28.81m throw. Maggie McNulty threw 24.76m. 

In the hammer throw McNulty launched a personal best of 39.55m. This is the new program seventh best. Riddle threw 31.07m, while Caroline Welsh followed right behind with 28.66m. 

McNulty also collected a personal best of 33.70m in javelin, taking second place and a program third best distance. Kaelyn Boodlal also collected a personal best throw with a distance of 23.51m. 

In the shot put, Welsh earned a personal best throw of 10.76m. She also now has the program tenth best.  Boodlal logged another personal best, 9.05m. Riddle chalked up a season best with her throw of 8.53m. 

BISON OUTDOOR INVITATIONAL

Bridgid Cavanaugh recorded a time of 4:57.23 in her first collegiate 1500m. Erin Roche logged a time of 5:03.52, a personal best.

In the 800m, Mya Sampong ran 2:20.84, the program's seventh best time. Alexa Grassi followed just behind with a time of 2:20.96. 

In the 10k, Olivia Sobkowicz ran a time of 36:20.96 and Laurel McMahon recorded 36:52.31.

Up next, a handful of Cardinals will compete in the second day of the Bison Outdoor Classic on Sunday, April 12th in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
