HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The Catholic men's golf team started off the weekend at the Cardinal Spring Classic in the first round on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals finished with a team score of 328 during the afternoon to sit in a tie for eighth place heading into Sunday.
Tim Cleary had the best day in the lineup for the Cardinals, shooting a 77 to finish at +5 in the first round. He collected pars on four straight holes on the front nine and totaled three birdies and eight pars throughout his round. He sits in a tie for 13th, five strokes off the lead.
The next best Catholic round came from
Matthew Begg as he shot an 81 and tallied nine pars and a birdie throughout the 18 holes to sit in a tie for 31st.
Joe Early and
Timothy Cleary both shot an 85 as Cleary had the most birdies on the team during the round with four.
Jack Davenport was the final player for the Cardinals and he shot a 90 while finishing with five pars.
The Catholic 'B' team shot a 323 on the afternoon and were led by
Jeremiah Brown and
Liam Bohm who each shot a 79. Bohm had two birdies and eight pars and Brown finished with nine pars and a birdie.
The Cardinals will finish the Cardinal Spring Classic and celebrate Senior Day on Sunday, April 12 at the Black Rock Golf Course.
