Pearson Sets Pentathlon Program Record at South Region Final Qualifier

WINCHESTER, Va. – A few members of the women's track team headed to both Winchester, Va. and Medford, Mass. to compete in qualifying meets.
 
SHENANDOAH SOUTH REGION QUALIFIER - Winchester, Va. 

Lauryn Pearson and Rachel Sprauer both competed in the pentathlon. The pair started the event with the 60m hurdles. Pearson raced 9.70, while Sprauer raced a personal best 10.06. In the high jump, Pearson reached a personal best of 1.55m. She remains as the fifth best in the program record book with the new distance. Sprauer jumped 1.19m in the high jump. Pearson threw 8.27m in the shot put, a personal-best, while Sprauer threw 5.65m.

In the long jump, Pearson jumped 4.64m and Sprauer leaped 4.17m. In the final event of the pentathlon, both Cardinals raced in the 800m. Pearson logged a personal-best time of 2:39.73. Sprauer ran a time of 2:46.90. 

Pearson now holds the program record in the pentathlon with 2,904 points. Sprauer also entered the record books with the fifth most points at 2,095. 

TUFTS NATIONAL QUALIFIER - Medford, Mass.

Olivia Sobkowicz was the lone Catholic woman at the Tufts National Qualifier. The freshman competed with a time of 17:46.15. 

The Cardinals will wait and see who will make the cut for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Selections will be released at 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 7th.
