Scolese Earns Fourth Career Landmark Athlete of the Week Award

| By:
TOWSON, Md.  – Senior shortstop Katie Scolese was named the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week making it the fourth time in her career she has earned the honor, it was announced today. It is the second consecutive week that a Catholic player has earned the award.

Scolese was fully locked in at the plate over the course of four games last week, going 8-for-12 at the dish, six of those hits for extra-bases, including homering in each of the four games played throughout the week. She started out by finishing 3-for-6 with two long balls, a double and four RBIs in a doubleheader split against Messiah. She followed that up with a 5-for-8 performance over a two-game series against Susquehanna where she tallied two more homers to go along with six RBIs to help Catholic improve to 4-0 in conference so far this season. Scolese has now homered in five of the last six games and she has multiple streaks this season of homering in three or more consecutive games.

For the season, Scolese is batting .355 with 22 hits in 62 at-bats, which is tied for the eighth-most hits in the Landmark. He holds the lead in the conference in home runs with eight on the season and is third in the conference in RBIs with 22. She is currently just two home runs shy of tying the program's single-season record of 10 (Taylor Stockinger, 2012).

The Cardinals are back in action on Tuesday, March 31 for a non-conference doubleheader against Gettysburg. First pitch for game one is set for 3 pm at the Catholic Softball Field.
