Women's Tennis Captures Victory Over Juniata

Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic women's tennis team faced off against Juniata on Sunday afternoon for another Landmark Conference match. The Cardinals took down the Eagles, 5-2.

Catholic set the tone early by taking the doubles point, sweeping all three courts to open the match and secure an early advantage. Annie Nemoy and Shloka Tambat took down their opponents in the one spot, 6-2. In the two spot, Ella Knox and Meaghan Laniewski took on their Eagle opponents, defeating them 6-0. Mairead O'Hara and Ava Niggemeier won in similar fashion, winning on the third court, 6-0. 

In singles, Catholic continued to build on that lead with multiple wins. Nemoy took on Celia Navarro in the two spot, defeating her in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3. Laniewski shutout her opponent, Emma Steinhoff, securing another point in the five spot, winning 6-0, 6-0. 

The Cardinals maintained control, and gained more points in the four and six spots. Samantha D'Addezio defeated Laura Rojas 6-2, 6-3. O'Hara battled hard in the four spot, but still secured a straight set victory over Katie Wagoner, 7-5, 6-1.
 
Niggemeier and Laniewski both secured their 60th career win over the Eagles. Catholic secured another conference win, defeating Juniata 5-2 to bring their conference record to 4-0. The Cardinals are now 7-8 overall. Up next, Catholic will host Lycoming on Saturday, April 11 at 3:30 p.m.
