Cardinals Open Spring Season at Dickinson Spring Invitational

CARLISLE, Pa.  – The Catholic men's golf team got the ball rolling on the spring season on March 22-23 at the Dickinson Spring Invitational. After the team concluded the first day in a tie for fifth in the standings with a team score of 295, tying the program's ninth-best team round in history, the Cardinals shot a 320 on day two to finish in eighth place out of the 16 teams that competed. 

Joe Earley put together the best round for the Cardinals on the first day of action, shooting an even par at 72 to sit in a tie for 17th place. Timothy Doheny matched Earley with a career low round of 72 as well to also sit in the top 20 after the first round. Matthew Begg also held a spot in the top 25 with a career low round of 73 (+1) to be in a tie for 24th. Timothy Cleary and Jack Davenport both also competed on the top team for Catholic and shot a 78 and 81 respectively in the opening round.

Cleary had the best round for the Cardinals on day two, improving by one stroke with a 77 to finish in a tie for 32 in the final standings. Doheny wound up being the highest finisher for Catholic on the leaderboard, shooting an 81 on the second day to finish in a tie for 24th. Begg and Earlet both also finished in the top 30 of the field, finishing with an 81 and 82 respectively on the second day of action. Davenport matched his day one score to finish at 162 for the tournament.

The Catholic 'B' team also competed with Matthew Dietl leading the pack, shooting a 76 and 81 in the two rounds to finish at 157. Liam Bohm also shot a 76 in the opening round to match Dietl and Connor Desjardins and Jeremiah Brown also broke 80 in the first day of action.

The Cardinals are back in action on Saturday, April 11 for the first round of the Cardinal Spring Classic at Black Rock Golf Course in Hagerstown, Md..
