Catholic Opens Spring Season at Washington College Invitational

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Catholic men's rowing team started its spring season at the Washington College Invitational. The Cardinals competed in two Varsity Eights races.

In the first Varsity Eights lineup, David Bernardo was the coxswain for the group. In the stroke position Jack Koubek and Franklin Hudak sat as the bow. Other members of the boat were Thomas Robertson (7), Jonah Stofko (6), Alan Nicholas (5), Mason Zajac (4), Jeffrey Cone (3), and Luis Pinero (2). 

In the prelims, the boat placed third with a time of 6:26.37 behind Villanova and Washington College. In the finals, the Cardinals raced 6:27.92, once again finishing in third. 

In the second Varsity Eights boat, Matthew Blomgren served as the coxswain. Owen Spelman served as the stroke, while Peter Keller sat in the bow. The boat comprised Peter Huber (7), Adam Cagno (6), Daniel Robertson (5), Bryce Wnek (4), Andrew Driscoll (3), and James Pickell (2).

In the prelims, the squad raced 7:06.43 and finished just behind the University of Delaware. The boat finished the race in 7:11.64 in the second V8 finals.

Up next, the Cardinals will compete at the St. Mary's Dual on Saturday, March 28th. The race will be held at The James P. Muldoon River Center and The Teddy Turner Waterfront.
