Strong Performances from Catholic on Day Two of Fred Hardy Invitational

RICHMOND, Va. – The Catholic women's track and field team competed on the second day of the Fred Hardy Invitational to start its spring season. 

The women opened the day with the 4x100 relay with a team of Erin Buckley, Sarah Schumacher, Ainsley Reisman, and Kortney Clipper. The squad raced a time of 49.17, which places them as the seventh best team in the program record books. 

Olivia Sobkowicz competed in the 1500m with a time of 4:52.41. Laurel McMahon raced a time of 5:08.17 and Alexa Grassi clocked a time of 5:15.33. Sara Roberts rounded out the group with 5:34.88.

In the 100m hurdles, Edith Tomasek led the Cardinal pack with her time of 16.88. Lauryn Pearson followed right behind with a time of 17.04. Rachel Sprauer and Corina Colmenares Bittar also finished back-to-back with times of 17.53 and 18.04, respectively. Pauline Kennedy raced a time of 22.30. 

Brigid Byrnes clocked a minute flat in the 400m and entered the program record book with the ninth best time. Mia McConnell raced 1:00.53 and Alicia Vo raced 1:01.27. Riley Walsh logged 1:03.59. Kate Hannan competed in 1:08.86. 

In the 100m race, Clipper was the first Cardinal finisher with a time of 13.16. Buckley competed with a time of 13.19. Reisman logged a time of 13.38, while Schumacher raced 13.66. Felicity Giampietro ran 13.81 in the event. Emily McDermond chalked up a time of 15.00. Catalina Zumbado raced a time of 15.10 in the 100m.

Kennedy was the lone competitor for the Cardinals in the 800m with a time of 2:48.35. 

In the 400m hurdles, Sprauer and Colmenares Bittar represented the Cardinals with times of 1:12.43 and 1:17.42, respectively. 

A handful of Cardinals competed in the 200m race. Clipper led the Catholic group with her ninth best program time of 26.58. McConnell recorded a time of 26.81. Schumacher logged 27.45 and Pearson recorded 27.58. Vo earned 27.63 in the race, while Giampietro finished just behind with her time of 27.69. Reisman earned a time of 27.94 and Buckley earned 28.13. Walsh competed in a time of 29.22. McDermond and Zumbado rounded out the group, finishing back-to-back with times of 31.17 and 31.21. 

In the 5000m, Isabel Doran raced a time of 21:45.43 and Margaret Glenn chalked up a time of 23:19.12. 

In the 4x400 relay, the group of McConnell, Walsh, Vo, and Sprauer raced a time of 4:10.21. 

Bethany Riddle threw a distance of 27.16m in discus. Maggie McNulty logged 26.31m and Kaelyn Boodlal threw 15.02m.

Kate Quashne earned a new personal best distance of 10.25m in the triple jump. This distance also slates her as the third best performer in program history. Tomasek reached 10.04m in the event. Vo jumped 9.93m. 

Quashne also performed well in the long jump, recording a distance of 4.79m, equaling her program tenth best distance. Erin Driscoll logged a distance of 4.52m. Alyssa Oscar reached a distance of 4.19m. 

In the pole vault, Chloe Dodd represented Catholic. The freshman sits as the third best performer with her height of 2.90m in the event. 

Pearson logged a distance of 1.55m in the high jump. Tomasek reached 1.45m with her jump. 

In javelin, McNulty placed second and was the first Division III athlete with her throw of 31.22m. This throw placed her with the fourth best program showing. Boodlal threw 21.56m in the event. 

Up next, the Cardinals will travel to St. Mary's City, Md. to compete in the Seahawk Invitational on Saturday, March 28th. The meet is slated to begin at 9 a.m..
