Brunet's Rookie of the Year Honors Top Landmark All-Conference List

TOWSON, Md. — The Catholic men's Track and Field team had nine athletes receive All-Landmark honors, it was announced today. Michael Brunet topped the list, earning Rookie of the Year honors and both First Team and Honorable Mention awards. 

Brunet clocked a meet record time of 4:17.56 in the mile, a personal record as well. The rookie of the year also entered the program record books with the seventh fastest mile time. Brunet also collected the bronze in the 3000m, running 8:46.51. He earned First and Honorable Mention honors for his respective performances. Brunet also earned Rookie of the Year honors for Cross Country this past fall season.

Calvin Hernandez earned First Team honors in the 60 meter dash after taking first place with a time of 6.96. This personal best places him as the second fastest Cardinal in the 60m in program history. 

In the High Jump, Drew Madden and Quinn Brubaker took first and second, earning First and Second Team honors respectively. Madden took the gold with a mark of 1.90m while Brubaker recorded his personal best mark of 1.87m to earn the silver. With their podium jumps, Madden moved up the program record books and became tied for fourth all time in the event. Brubaker also moved up the ranks, to fifth from sixth.

Senior Nicholas Chang finished second in the triple jump with a personal best distance of 13.08m and earned Second Team honors. He also moved up the record books from ninth to sixth in the event.

The Cardinals earned two podium finishes in the 800m, with Kendrick DuPree collecting silver and Peter Winter earning bronze. DuPree's time of 1:57.06 gave him Second Team honors, while Winter was named as an Honorable Mention with a time of 1:58.16.

Sean Owens took third place in the 400m, earning Honorable Mention honors with his new personal best of 50.94. Owens' time placed him as the new Catholic third best performer in the event.

The Catholic 4x400m relay took the top spot and First Team honors with a time of 3:25.15. The team featured Sean Owens, Peter Winter, Emmanuel Olarewaju, and Kendrick DuPree. Not only did the group place first at the meet, they also cemented themselves as the third best time in the event in the Catholic record books.
