Men's Tennis Drops Matches against Lake Forest and Baldwin Wallace

Box Score 1 HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Catholic men's tennis team closed out their trip with two final matches on Friday. They first took on Lake Forest and fell 6-1, followed by a meeting with Baldwin Wallace in the evening where they dropped the match, 6-1.

MATCH ONE - Catholic 1, Lake Forest 6

Catholic began the match with a hard fought battle in doubles. Diego Romo and James Earwood battled in the one spot, falling to their Forester opponents 6-4. Lorenzo Neri and Ian Arenas took on Bernardo Aguiar and George Ciuca in the two spot, defeating them 7-5. The Cardinals were unable to secure the doubles point, giving Lake Forest an early advantage.

In singles, Arenas mounted a major comeback against Lake Forest's Felipe Vazsonyi after falling in the first set 6-2. Arenas forced a tiebreak in the second set after meeting his opponent at 6-6. He won the set, 7-1 in the tiebreaker, forcing a third set. Arenas then earned the lone point for the Cardinals after defeating Vazsonyi 10-1.

Catholic ultimately fell to Lake Forest, 6-1.

MATCH TWO - Catholic 1, Baldwin Wallace 6

Despite losing the doubles point to the Yellow Jackets, Catholic battled in doubles. In the three spot, Jay Harper and Henry Ogden defeated their opponents Severin Kretchmar and Jacob Weingart, 6-3. In the one spot, Leyton Ramos-Platt and Nathaniel Barish faced off against William Horvath and Henry Harders, falling in the close contest 6-4.

In singles, Ramos-Platt nearly forced a third set against Henry Harders in the four spot. Harders took the first set, 6-3, but Ramos-Platt sent the second set to a tiebreak before ultimately falling 7-6.

Harper earned a point for the Cardinals in the six spot, defeating his opponent 7-5, 1-0.

In spite of the hard fought match, the Cardinals were unable to take down the Yellow Jackets, falling 6-1.

Up next, Catholic will continue their road stretch with a match against Wilkes. The meeting is set for Saturday, March 21 at Ralston Athletic Complex.
