Catholic Checks Personal Bests and Records Off the List at Blue & White Invite

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Catholic women's track and field team headed over to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to compete in the Blue & White Invite, hosted by Franklin & Marshall. A couple athletes from the Catholic women's track and field team also traveled to Blacksburg, Virginia to compete in the second day of the Doc Hale Invite, hosted by Virginia Tech. 

Blue & White Invite

Edith Tomasek started her day off with a season best 10.26 meter triple jump. Alyssa Oscar completed 9.11m in the event.

Maggie McNulty earned herself a personal best with a throw of 13.56m in the shot put. With this, McNulty placed sixth out of 32 throwers. 

Alexa Grassi placed second out of 38 athletes with her time 2:23.69 in the 800 meter. Kate Hannan competed a 2:39.10 in the event. 

Grassi also competed in the mile with a time of 5:32.74. The junior placed third out of 28 runners. Isabel Doran earned herself a personal best time of 6:14.11. 

Sarah Schumacher raced a personal best time of 43.53 in the 300 meter. With this, Schumacher improves her second place time in the program record books. Additionally, she now sits as the current 76th best in Division III in the event. Schumacher placed fifth out of 37 runners.

The Cardinals had five other competitors in the 300 meter. Ainsley Reisman placed eighth with her time of 44.39. Reisman, in her first time competing in the event, enters the program record books as sixth overall. Rachel Sprauer logged a time of 44.83. Riley Walsh ran a time of 45.22. Felicity Giampietro raced a time of 46.29 in the event. Emily McDermond capped off the group with a time of 52.04. 

In the 60 meter dash, Erin Buckley placed second with her time of 8.04. Teammate Kortney Clipper followed in third with a time of 8.05. 

Tomasek ran a season best 9.65 in the 60 meter hurdles and placed fourth out of 21 competitors. Alicia Vo followed just behind in fifth place with a personal best of 9.76. Corina Colmenares Bittar 10.78 meters. 

Caroline Welsh placed sixth in the shot put with 10.88m. McNulty threw 9.89m to place 11th out of 35 athletes. Kaelyn Boodlal reached 8.72m with her throw. Bethany Riddle completed a throw of 8.05m. 

In the long jump, Catholic had three competitors: Kate Quashne, Erin Driscoll, and Alyssa Oscar. Quashne reached 4.76m and placed seventh out of 30 jumpers. Senior Driscoll reached 4.38m and Oscar completed a jump of 4.20m. 

The women performed well in the 400 meter, with Alicia Vo leading the Cardinal pack with a time of 1:03.10. This personal best placed her fourth out of 22 athletes. In fifth, Clipper ran 1:05.38. Schumacher raced a time of 1:06.07. Giampietro logged 1:07.51 in the event. Emily McDermond raced a time of 1:20.11. 

In the 200 meter, Kortney Clipper placed third with her time of 27.27. With a time of 27.72, Sarah Schumacher placed sixth. Other runners included Erin Buckley (28.06), Felicity Giampietro (28.22), and Ainsley Reisman (28.49). Rachel Sprauer earned a personal best time of 28.84. Corina Colmenares Bittar also earned a season best with her time of 29.43. 

Riley Walsh (29.71), Kiera Webster (30.34), and Emily McDermond (32.51) round out the Cardinal competitors in the 200 meter. 

Doc Hale Invite

In the 200 meter, Mia McConnell once again earned a personal best with a time of 26.92. The junior moves up the record book one spot from ninth to eighth in program history. Zoey Brown ran a time of 27.66 in the event. 

Up next, the Cardinals will compete at the Widener Indoor Classic on Friday, February 13th and Saturday, February 14th.
