BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Catholic men's track and field team traveled to Blacksburg, Virginia to compete in the Doc Hale Invite, hosted by Virginia Tech.
Micheal Brunet entered the Catholic record books with his mile performance. The freshman ran 4:18.17 in the event and earned the seventh best time in program history.
Drew Madden was the lone Cardinal to compete in the heptathlon. On day one, the freshman competed in the 60 meter dash, long jump, shot put, and the long jump. In the first event, the 60 meter, he raced a time of 7.61. In the long jump, Madden reached 5.31m. Madden earned a personal best, and a fourth place finish, with his throw of 12.18m in the shot put. Drew Madden moves up to fifth in the program record books from seventh. The freshman will complete the rest of the heptathlon on day two of the meet.
Up next, the men's track and field team will be competing in the second day of the Doc Hale Invite at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 7th. The team will also be competing in the Blue and White invite, starting at 9:30 AM, hosted by Franklin & Marshall in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
