McConnell, Byrnes, Brown, and Vo Show Off in Relay at the Widener Indoor Classic

CHESTER, Pa. – The Catholic women's track and field team traveled over to Widener University to compete in the second day of the Widener Indoor Classic.

Kortney Clipper highlighted the day for the Cardinals by setting a school record in the 200 meter sprint with a time of 25.86 becoming the first sprinter in program history to break 26 seconds in the event. Clipper's time beat out the previous record of 26.11, which was held by Brigid Byrnes in 2024.

Moving up the record books to third overall, Olivia Sobkowicz earned herself a new personal best in the 3000 meter with a time of 10:30.82. 

Bridgid Cavanaugh earned a personal best in the mile with a time of 5:20.24. Erin Roche also collected a personal best with a time of 5:33.87. 

Lauryn Pearson earned a personal best of 9.60 in the 60 meter hurdles prelims. 

In the 60 meter dash prelims, Erin Buckley raced a season best time of 8.03. Clipper ran a time of 8.12.

Mia McConnell was the fastest Cardinal in the 400 meter with a time of 1:00.13. Junior Zoey Brown logged a season best 1:01.95. Alicia Vo earned a personal best with her run of 1:02.16. 

In the 200 meter, Sarah Schumacher ran 27.07. 

The women's 4x400 relay team, consisting of McConnell, Brigid Byrnes, Brown, and Vo, placed sixth out of sixteen teams. The group logged the new Division III 45th best time of 4:01.50 and season best performance. Additionally, this group earned the second best 4x400 relay time in program history. 

In the high jump, Pearson reached 1.50 meters and Edith Tomasek jumped 1.45 meters.

 Mya Sampong, Cavanaugh, Kate Hannan, and Roche all participated in the 800 meter. Sampong earned a personal best with a time of 2:26.99. Cavanaugh tallied a time of 2:30.19. Hannan earned a personal best 2:33.27. Roche raced a time of 2:39.30. 

Up next, the Catholic women's track and field team will head over to Fairfax, Virginia to compete in the Father Diamond meet on Friday, February 20th. The meet will begin at 2 p.m., hosted by George Mason.
