Cardinals Extend Their Lead on Day Two of Landmark Championships

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Catholic men's swimming and diving team continued their strong showing on day two of the Landmark Conference Championships. The Cardinals had another impressive day of competition, extending their lead with a total of 374.50 points.

Catholic dominated the event 500 Freestyle to start the evening, claiming the top three spots in the final. Shawn Mashburn led the charge with a first-place finish in 4:40.64, followed closely by John Holler in second with a time of 4:40.66 and Hank McGuire in third in 4:42.67. Reid Knuckles added points in the B final with a 13th-place finish in 4:59.42.

Charles Connolly III, Gabriel Hermann, and Jack Walsh once again represented the Cardinals in the diving events, this time in the 3-meter event. Hermann secured another gold medal in the event, posting a winning score of 407.10. Connolly took second with 296.05 points and Walsh took third with 269.60 to complete the podium sweep for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals continued their momentum in the 200 Individual Medley, where Sean Kelty captured gold with a time of 1:52.87 and Ben Lutcher took bronze in 1:55.49.

In the 50 Freestyle, Teddy Tsakumis led Catholic with a third-place finish in 21.03. His brother, Alexander Tsakumis, followed in fourth with a time of 21.26. 

The Cardinals closed out the night with a second-place finish in the 400 Medley Relay. The team of T. Tsakumis, Kelty, Vincent Wills, and Holler clocked a time of 3:23.28.

Catholic returns to the pool Saturday as the Landmark Conference Championships continue at the Mangione Aquatic Center. Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
