BALTIMORE, Md. - The Catholic women's swimming and diving team opened competition at the Landmark Conference Championships on Thursday evening, with a record-breaking performance. Competing in two events to begin the meet, the Cardinals ended the night in first place with 80 total points.
The 200 Medley Relay team of
Tara Wiarda,
Bella Mugno,
Anna Dymek, and
Emily Blaskovich secured their spots into the record books, breaking the Landmark Conference record of 1:46.39 that has been held by Susquehanna since 2017. The Cardinals logged a time of 1:45.71 to claim gold and set a new conference standard.Â
Molly Foltz, Katie Nalepka,
Maura Sadowski, and Mugno also added another first-place finish for the Cardinals in the 800 Free Relay. Â The group finished in 7:53.72, securing Catholic's second gold medal of the evening.
Catholic will be back in action on Friday for day two of the Landmark Conference Championships. Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
