| By:
TOWSON, Md. - The Catholic men's tennis team was selected second in the Landmark Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, it was announced today. The Cardinals earned 71 points in the poll, including two first-place votes.

Catholic finished just behind Goucher, who claimed top spot with 76 points and five first-place votes. The Gophers captured the conference title last season after a tightly contested championship match against Drew, marking their second consecutive championship and their seventh overall conference title.

Moravian was selected third in the poll, trailing Catholic with 65 points and three first-place votes. The Greyhounds entered the conference championships as the fourth seed, but fell to the Gophers in the semifinals.

Head Coach Nate Farlow enters his fourth season leading the Cardinals. Last spring, he guided Catholic to a 9-5 overall record and 6-2 record in conference play. The Cardinals entered as the second seed in the Landmark tournament and advanced to the semifinals before falling to Drew.

The Cardinals have had a strong fall season, posting a 5-1 overall record, highlighted 7-0 victories over York (Pa.), St. Mary's (Md.) and conference opponent Elizabethtown 7-0.

Catholic returns Lorenzo Neri, Diego Romo, and James Earwood as key contributors, each of them earning All-Landmark recognition during the 2024-25 campaign.

Earwood, a native of Augusta, Ga., notched his second All-Landmark First Team selection for doubles and his second All-Landmark Second Team honor in singles last season. He was also named Landmark Athlete of the Week twice as a junior.

Romo joined Earwood on the First Team in doubles after compiling a 14-6 overall record during his junior campaign. Neri also earned Second Team honors in singles and received an Honorable Mention in doubles.

The Cardinals will begin their spring season on Saturday, Feb. 14 against Washington College. The match is set for 1 p.m. at the Schottland Tennis Center in Chestertown, Md.
