FAIRFAX, Va. – The Catholic women's track and field team headed over to Fairfax, Virginia to participate in the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason.
Laurel McMahon continued to show her distance prowess, earning a personal best in the 5000 meter. The junior raced a time of 17:50.74. This time places her as the 38th best across all of Division III in the event. This new time moves her up in the Catholic record books from the third best to second best performer in the 5000 meter race. Teammate
Olivia Sobkowicz finished in the middle of the pack with a time of 18:23.84.Â
On day one of two of the meet, the Cardinals showed off in the pentathlon.Â
Lauryn Pearson earned herself a personal best of 9.66 in the 60 meter hurdles as the fastest Catholic finisher in eighth place.
Alicia Vo also earned a personal best in the event racing a 9.83.
The Cardinal women showed out in the 800 meter. Vo placed third with her personal best time of 2:34.52. Pearson earned her season best of 2:40.90 in fifth place.
Pauline Kennedy finished just behind her teammate in sixth place with her personal best time of 2:42.07.
Edith Tomasek also earned her own best with 2:47.61 in tenth.Â
In the shot put, Kennedy led the Catholic pack with a 8.93 meter throw in third place.Â
Alicia Vo jumped 4.68 meters in the long jump, a season best.
Lauryn Pearson followed just behind with a 4.65 meter jump. Tomasek followed with a season best 4.57 meters.
Pearson jumped 1.49 meters in the high jump, the final event of the pentathlon.Â
Up next, the Cardinals will participate in day two of the Patriot Games on Saturday, January 31st. The day is set to start at 9 AM in Fairfax, Va.Â
