FAIRFAX, Va. – The Catholic men's track and field team headed over to Fairfax, Virginia to participate in the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason.
Drew Madden was the lone Cardinal to compete in the heptathlon. In the 60 meter dash, he earned a time of 7.59. The freshman jumped 5.74 meters in the long jump. In shot put, he tallied a third place finish with his throw of 11.40 meters. Madden led the pack capturing a first place finish and season best in the high jump with a 1.86 meter jump. With this, he jumps up to fifth best in program record books, besting his previous seventh place position.Â
Joey Locke earned a season best in the 5000 meter with a time of 15:40.75.
Tim Sweeney chalked up a time of 15:59.25.
Daniel Ponciano tallied a personal best of 16:26.53 in the event.Â
Up next, the Cardinals will participate in day two of the Patriot Games on Saturday, January 31st. The day is set to start at 9 AM in Fairfax, Va.Â
