LANDOVER, Md. – The Catholic women's track and field team hosted the Cardinal Track & Field Classic at PG Sports and Learning Complex to open up its 2026 season.
Mia McConnell placed third overall, first for Division III runners, with her time of 1:01.34 in the 400m. Teammate
Alicia Vo collected a personal best with a time of 1:03.35. She placed seventh out of 20 runners.
Mia McConnell also earned herself a personal best in the 200m with a time of 27.16. McConnell remains in ninth place in the Catholic record books, besting her previous ninth place time of 27.19. She placed 12th out of 46 competitors.Â
Sophomore
Kate Quashne achieved the longest jump for the Cardinals and placed 7th in the long jump at 4.84m. With this jump, Quashne enters the record books tied in ninth for longest jump.
Lauryn Pearson was just behind in 8th place, jumping 4.8m. Pearson also placed fourth in the high jump with her jump of 1.52 meters.Â
Laurel McMahon raced a new personal best of 5:16.75 and entered the Catholic record books with the 10th best time in the mile. She placed sixth overall and was the third Division III finisher. Teammate
Olivia Sobkowicz followed just behind in seventh place with a time of 5:20.11.Â
Alexa Grassi earned a new personal best time of 5:31.54 in the mile. The junior placed 13th out of 38 athletes.Â
Erin Buckley placed eighth out of 40 athletes with a time of 8.10 in the 60m prelims. The junior raced a time of 8.15 and placed seventh in the finals of the event.
Edith Tomasek (9.78) and
Mia McConnell (9.78) placed sixth and seventh place, respectively, in the prelims of the 60m hurdles. Tomasek placed seventh in the finals with a time of 10.00, while McConnell followed in eighth place with a time of 10.05.
The women's 4x400, composed of
Alicia Vo,
Riley Walsh,
Lauryn Pearson, and
Rachel Sprauer, placed sixth overall with a time of 4:18.13.Â
Up next, the Cardinals will travel to the Coach I Invite held by Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, January 24th. The meet is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
