Villatoro Clinches First in the Long Jump at the Cardinal Track & Field Classic

LANDOVER, Md. – The Catholic men's track and field team hosted the Cardinal Track & Field Classic at PG Sports and Learning Complex to open up its 2026 season.

Adrian Villatoro, sophomore, clinched first place in the long jump with a new personal best. His 6.30m jump places him seventh overall in the Catholic record books, besting his previous seventh place best of 6.23m. Brandon Hancock placed fifth out of 17 athletes with a jump of 5.77m. 

Quinn Brubaker jumped his way into the Catholic record books with a high jump of 1.85m. He placed second in the event and is now tied for fifth in the program. 

Michael Brunet earned fourth place overall in the mile and was the first place Division III runner with a time of 4:28.63. Joey Locke collected a new personal best with his seventh place finish out of 32 runners. The junior raced a time of 4:38.36.

Calvin Hernandez placed seventh in the 60 meter prelims with a time of 7.14. Teammate Romell Randolph placed eighth in the preliminary with a time of 7.16. Hernandez finished sixth in the finals with a time of 7.09 while Randolph finished in eighth with a time of 7.17.

Nathan Chaney raced himself a personal best in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.06. Gabe Devaney raced a time of 53.76 in the 400m and placed eighth out of 22 competitors. 

Freshman Benjamin Warr earned himself a personal best in the weight throw with a distance of 10.61m. Junior Warren Gillis also threw a new personal best of 9.72m. Alex Saunders placed ninth in shot put with a throw of 12.27m.

Sean Owens placed 11th out of 39 competitors with a time of 23.80. Teammate Hernandez finished with 24.00 and placed 12th. 

Up next, the Cardinals will travel to the Coach I Invite held by Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, January 24th. The meet is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
