STEVENSON, Md. — The Catholic women's golf team competed at the Stevenson Fall Invitational on Monday afternoon and finished in first place out of the seven team field. As a team the Cardinals shot a 325 (+41) to finish 18 strokes better than the next closest team.
Brooke Smith came out on top of all other competitors, shooting a 77 (+6), three strokes less than the next closest player. She wrapped up her front nine by parring the last four holes and started the back with a par and birdie on the first two holes. She also parred five of the last six holes to finish atop the field.
Gabi Courtney also finished in the top five in a tie for fourth place after shooting an 82 (+11). She totaled five pars and two birdies in her round.
Lauren Wright and
Mary McGuire each finished one stroke higher than Courtney, both shooting a 83 (+12) to finish in a tie for sixth.
Meghan Mullen made four consecutive pars on the back nine and eight in total in her round to finish the round with an 84 (+13) to finish in ninth place.
Harper Capilli shot a 85 on the 'B' team to wrap up the Cardinals who made the top five.
Catholic's next match is on Tuesday, October 7 when it plays in the Alvernia Fall Invitational at LedgeRock Golf Club.
