Zimmer's Goal Helps #18 Catholic Earn Draw Against Stockton

WASHINGTON, D.C.  — The Catholic men's soccer team returned to Carlini Field on Saturday afternoon to take on Stockton, trying to extend its regular season unbeaten streak to 17.

The Cardinals cracked the scoreboard for the first time early in the first half, 11 minutes into the game, when Christian Backich created an attacking chance for Ben Zimmer. Zimmer took the pass and buried a shot into the top right corner of the goal to put Catholic up 1-0.

Owen Allegro kept the Ospreys off the board by making three saves to send the Cardinals into halftime with a one goal lead.

Stockton found an equalizer just two minutes into the second half on a goal by Ernst Louisius to bring things back to even at one.

It was an even offense matchup as Stockton got off 9 shots to Catholic's 8.

Charlie Paparella, Corey Magro, Ellington Andrews, Graham Leary, and goalkeeper Allegro played the full 90 for the Cardinals.

With the 1-1 tie, Catholic extends their draw streak to 3 in a row.

Up next, the Cardinals will be hosting North Carolina Wesleyan at Carlini Field on September 24th at 5 p.m.
