TOWSON, Md. — Junior
Ava Niggemeier was named the Landmark Conference women's tennis Athlete of the week after a stellar performance to start her 2025 fall season, it was announced today. Niggemeier played in three matches and collected doubles and singles wins in both to start the season off 4-0. It was the first time in her career she earned the honor.
Niggemeier started the weekend off against Dickinson on Friday, picking up a convincing doubles win as she took the first three games in the set and went on to win the set with
Mairead O'Hara, 6-1. Niggemeier proceeded to capture the lone singles victory in the match for Catholic in the number six spot, winning in two sets by scores of 6-2 and 6-1.
She followed up with another strong showing against York (Pa.), starting the day off with 6-3 set win in doubles to help the Cardinals earn the point. She then played in a singles match against St. Mary's (Md.) later in the day in two sets by scores of 6-0 and 6-2 to complete another 2-0 day for herself.Â
The Cardinals next match will be on Saturday, September 20 at Lebanon Valley.Â
