TOWSON, Md. — Freshman
Olivia Sobkowicz was named the Landmark Conference women's cross country Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career, it was announced today. She became the first member of the team to earn the award this season.
Sobkowicz shined at the Cantello Invitational hosted by the Naval Academy over the weekend, finishing in eighth place after competing in the 6k for the first time in her collegiate career. She finished with a time of 23:23.9, which was the fastest time among DIII runners in the race out of 60 runners in total.
Sobkowicz also ran in the 5k, two weeks ago at Mount St. Mary's, and finished with the ninth-best time in program history in the event, clocking in at 19:23.89 to finish 14th in the field.
The Cardinals will compete at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh, on Friday, October 3 beginning at 9:30 am.
