Jake Hershey was named Landmark Conference men's tennis Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career, it was announced today. Hershey started his college career off with a bang, going 4-0 over two matches to be the first Catholic athlete to earn the award this season.
Hershey started the season off by picking up a doubles victory along with
Flynn Hollinger against Dickinson on Friday. Hershey won the set six games to one to help the Cardinals sweep in doubles in the match. He then competed in the number four singles slot and took the point in two sets by scores of 6-2 and 6-4.
Hershey also collected two wins against York (Pa.) on Saturday, starting off with a doubles victory, once again playing with Hollinger. The pairing once again took six out of the seven games they played to help the Cardinals sweep in doubles against the Spartans. He then again took his singles match in two sets in dominant fashion, winning by scores of 6-0 and 6-2.
The Cardinals next match will be on Saturday, September 20 at Lebanon Valley.Â
