Cardinals Take First Place at Battle of the Beltway

TIMONIUM, Md.  — The Catholic women's golf team played in the Battle of the Beltway hosted by Stevenson at Pine Ridge Golf Course this past weekend. As a team the Cardinals came out on top of the field out of six programs with a score of 335, five strokes better than Stevenson who came in second. 

Meghan Mullen and Isabelle Seratch each finished tied atop the field, both shooting an 82 (+10) to finish on top of the leader board. Mullen, in her first collegiate round, started off with four pars on the front nine and closed out the back nine with back-to-back pars. She tallied a birdie and three more pars on the back nine as well. Seratch parred six of her last seven holes on the front nine and followed up with two birdies and three pars on the back nine. Seratch matched her career lowest round with her performance.

Mary McGuire heated up on the back nine, shooting a 39, to help her finish the round with an 85 (+13). She poured in a team-high four birdies, all of which came on the back nine to finish in sixth place. 

Tyler Zierski and Harper Capilli each finished in a tie for eighth place as they each shot an 86 in their rounds. Zierski totaled six pars and a birdie while Capilli finished with seven pars and a birdie. 

The Cardinals will host their next match at the Black Rock Golf Course for the Cardinal Fall Classic. The event will be held for two days on September 27-28.
