Varsity Eight Set for Grand Final after Successful Day One at Dad Vail Regatta

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. – Catholic women's rowing completed day one of its last regatta of the season on Friday, winning a pair of races on Cooper River at the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta. 

The Cardinals started off the day in thrilling fashion with a first-place finish in the varsity 8+ time trial. The lineup featuring Katherine Hourani (coxswain), Bridget Robben (stroke), Claudia Hindley (7), Anne Mountcastle (6), Lauren McGinn (5),  Katherine Elizabeth Ma (4), Ellie Tynan (3),  Charlotte Fritz (2), and Abigail Harris (bow) clocked a 7:03.704 time to cross the finish line over 10 seconds ahead of any other boat. This crew improved their time by over 25 seconds from its last outing at the MARC Championships where they finished with a time of 7:30.16.

Catholic went on to win its semifinal race as well, besting Stockton by nearly 15 full seconds to make it a fantastic day on the water. The Cardinals finished the race in 7:24.250. 

The Cardinals are back on the water tomorrow with a pair of races on the docket. The Women's Frosh/Novice 4+ will compete in Final 3 tomorrow at 8:18 a.m. while the Varsity 8+ will run the Grand Final at 4:38 p.m.
