Men's Rowing Completes Day One of Dad Vails, Send Two Boats to Saturday's Finals

PENNSAUKEN, N.J.In the morning time trials, the second varsity 4+ placed fifth among a field of nine boats. They clocked a 7:27.376 to just beat out Loyola (Md.), who crossed the finish line a second later. The top boat in the heat was from Rollins with a time of 7:03.930, followed by Drexel in second with a time of 7:05.286. 

The Cardinals had two boats featured in the varsity 4+ time trial race. The Catholic A crew placed sixth after completing the course in 6:52.186. The Catholic B crew clocked a 7:19.922 for 10th place. The event was very competitive with all 10 boats finishing within 45 seconds of each other and seven boats clocking times under seven minutes. Oklahoma City the first boat to finish in the heat with a time of 6:35.198, followed by Drexel who clocked a 6:39.000. 

In the 2V4+ semis, the Catholic boat placed third in its race with a similar time to the trials, completing the race in 7:27.477. The Cardinals beat out the Pittsburgh boat by almost 11 seconds and fell nearly 12 seconds shy of the Colgate boat. 

Competing in the same semifinal in the MV4+, the Catholic boats placed fourth and fifth in the six-boat race. The faster boat clocked a time of 6:56.09, just four seconds shy of the Army boat in third, while the second boat crossed in 7:35.42. 

Catholic will put all three boats back in the water tomorrow for MV4+ Final 2 at 9:36 a.m. and the M2V4+ Grand Final at 1:50 p.m.
