TOWSON, Md. -
Shloka Tambat became Catholic women's tennis' first Rookie of the Year in a decade to lead a group of five Cardinals honored by the Landmark Conference. Tambat was also named to the All-Landmark First Team for singles and doubles.
Tambat was the only freshman named to the All-Conference First Team in both singles and doubles, capping a standout debut season for Catholic. Tambat played No. 1 singles and doubles throughout the season, finishing 12-5 in singles—including an eight-match win streak to open the year—and 14-3 in doubles with an 8-1 mark in conference play.
Tambat is the first Catholic player named First Team All-Landmark in Singles play since Brooke Simonson in 2022 and joins
Mairead O'Hara as the first All-Landmark Doubles duo since Liz Harvey and Laura Torsiello in 2015.
O'Hara and Tambat were dominant as a doubles duo with O'Hara grabbing a doubles honor for the second straight year after being named honorable mention alongside
Ava Niggemeier in 2024.
Meaghan Laniewski, a sophomore playing most of the season at No. 3 singles, was named to the second team for singles play while
Ella Knox was an honorable mention choice. Knox and Niggemeier garnered honorable mention honors in doubles play.
Laniewski posted 12 victories in singles play in 2024-25, winning 11 matches at No. 3 singles and one at No. 2 singles. Laniewski has 19 career singles victories and 40 overall victories in two seasons at Catholic.
Knox posted eight wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles in 2024-25, including five wins in Landmark Conference play. Knox also added 12 wins in doubles play, including eight alongside Niggemeier to earn honorable mention honors.
