Fearwell Earns Third Career Gold Medal, Cardinals Finish Fourth at Landmark Championships

SELINSGROVE, Pa.  — After finishing day one in fourth place, the Catholic men's track and field held its place in fourth on day two, tallying 92 points in total including an individual championship and three second-place finishes. 

Jevontae Fearwell headlined the afternoon for Catholic as he took the championship in the 100m for the second consecutive season. He clocked in at 10.52 in the finals to win the race by .11 seconds to capture the third gold medal of his outdoor career. Fearwell's time currently ranks 16th in the country in DIII and is the fastest time ever ran in the 100m at the Landmark Championships. 

Fearwell collected more silverware in the 200m, finishing in second place to earn eight more points for Catholic. He finished with a time of 21.49 to earn silver in the outdoor 200 for the second time in his career. 

The 4x100 relay team were just edged out by Susquehanna in the championship race to earn silver. Sam Compton, Fearwell, James Galang and Sebastian Lopez ran the second-fastest time in program history at 41.12 and lost the race by hundredths of a second to finish in second and earn Catholic eight points in the standings. 

The Cardinals recorded another second place finish in the final event of the championships, the 4x400 relay. Marco Indelicato, Nick Troy, Peter Winter and Fearwell clocked in at 3:17.35 to earn silver in the event and their time was the fourth-fastest in program history and the fastest since 1982. With his four medals at the conference championships, Fearwell now has nine medals during the outdoor season in his career. 

Nicholas Chang earned himself bronze in the triple jump with a jump of 12.68m to finish in third place and earn six points for the Cardinals. Chang earned the first medal of his career with the third place finish.

The Cardinals added another six points on a third place finish from Winter in the 800m. Winter ran a PR time of 1:53.61 to earn a spot on the All-Landmark team for the first time in his outdoor career. His time was the sixth-best performance in program history. 

The Cardinals added three more in the javelin throw as Max Lindung came in sixth place with a throw of 48.35m out of 24 in the field. Charles Connolly III also picked up three points in the long jump with a mark of 1.79m. 

Indelicato earned two points for the team in the 400m by coming in seventh place. He ran a PR time of 49.89 to pick up the two points which finished just outside the top 10 in program history. 

The Cardinals will have members compete in the West Chester Final Qualifier on Friday, May 9 in West Chester, Pa. The event will take place at John A. Farrell Stadium.
