NEW ORLEANS, La. — Eight members of the Catholic men's track and field team earned a spot on the USTFCCCA All-South Region team, it was announced by the organization yesterday.
Jevontae Fearwell led the team in selections with three to bring his career outdoor All-South Region honors to four. He ran a time of 10.41 at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational to earn All-Region honors in the 100m. He was also a member of the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams that both earned All-South Region selections, making it his second career All-Region in the 4x100.
Conor Gross earned All-South Region honors in the 1500m with a time of 3:49.40 at the Widener Final Qualifier. It is the first All-Region selection of his career.
The other members of the 4x100 team that earned a spot on the All-South Region squad were
Sam Compton,
James Galang and
Sebastian Lopez who helped run to a program-record time of 40.92 at the ECAC DIII Track and Field Championships to finish third in the region. It is the second time for both Compton and Lopez earning All-Region in the 4x100 and the first time for Galang.
The other three members of the 4x400 team were
Marco Indelicato,
Nick Troy and
Peter Winter and they earned the All-Region nod with a time of 3:17.35 at the Landmark Conference Championships. It is the first All-Region honor for all three.
Farewell is the lone men's track and field athlete for the Cardinals competing at the NCAA Championships this upcoming weekend. Farewell will compete in the preliminaries in the 100m tomorrow, May 23.
