Five Nominated for Men's Outstanding Senior Athlete

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Thursday, May 15, the Catholic University Athletic Department will hold its annual senior celebration in the Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center.

During the live event, the department will reveal the winners of its seven major awards. Over the coming days, the nominees for these will continue to be rolled out. Today's award is the Men's Outstanding Senior Athlete. This award is presented to the male student-athlete who has made significant contributions to their respective sport and team, taking into account the student-athlete's aggregate career at Catholic.

Student-athletes are nominated for these awards by their head coach and all nominees voted upon by members of the department to decide a winner. The winners will be announced live on May 15.

The five nominees for this year's award are Domenico Caltabiano, Jevontae Fearwell, Dante Pozzi, Victor Rosado, and Mason Stillwell.

DOMENICO CALTABIANO

A Bel Air, Md. native, Domenico Caltabiano is a four-year member of the Catholic men's soccer program. Caltabiano made 81 appearances throughout his career, which is the second-most in program history, making 68 starts and totalling 4,575 minutes on the field. He is the program's record holder for assists in the DIII era with 20 and is also in the top 10 in career goals with 18 and career points with 56. Caltabiano was a key piece to the squad during the 2022 season with eight goals and 10 assists on a team that reached the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. In that tournament, Caltabiano scored a goal and provided three assists to help the Cardinals gain victories over Lynchburg and Christopher Newport. Caltabiano's 10 assists in the 2022 season are the most in a single-season by any player in DIII program history.

"Domenico Caltabiano has been an integral part of our program since his freshman year in 2021," said head coach Connor Keenan. "Not only has he established himself as a top 10 program stat leader in multiple categories, but Dom has also been an integral part in the most successful men's soccer class that has come through this program totaling 3 Landmark Conference Championships, 4 Straight NCAA Tournament appearances including a Sweet 16 in
2022."

After being selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region V Third Team in the fall, Caltabiano became the first player in DIII program history to be selected to the USC All-Region team three times, joining his first team selection in 2022 and second team selection in 2023. In addition, he is a three-time All-Landmark Conference First Team selection and was named the MVP of the Turk Emekli Classic Tournament in 2021.

"Off the field, he has balanced his athletics within the rigorous Nursing School, earning academic Honors each of his 4 years at Catholic," said Keenan. "Overall, Dom has been a leader in every way on and off the field for Catholic Men's Soccer during his time and our success is directly attributed to his contributions."

JEVONTAE FEARWELL

Jevontae Fearwell hails from St. Mary's County, Md. and is a four-year member of the Catholic men's track and field program. Over his career, Farewell has won five individual championships in the Landmark Conference between the indoor and outdoor seasons and holds program records in six different events. In the 2024 season, Fearwell came in first at the Landmark Championships in both the 60 and 200 meter during the winter and topped the field in the 100 meter during the spring. This outdoor season, he qualified for the Penn Relays in the 100 meter as the only DIII athlete in the field and just the sixth DIII athlete to do so since 2007.

"Jevontae has been an outstanding leader, captain, and contributor to Catholic University's Track and Field team throughout his career," said head coach Steve Rahn. "His role in setting school and conference records, along with his participation in prestigious events like the Penn Relays, where he helped secure a 3rd place finish in the 4x100m relay in 2024, has cemented his legacy as one of Catholic University's greatest athletes."

Fearwell has racked up accolades throughout his career as he is a three-time USTFCCCA All-South Region selection and a five-time All-Landmark First Team selection. In total, Fearwell has been an All-Landmark Conference recipient 11 times in his career and he is in the top five in the Landmark record book multiple times. He was named the Landmark Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Year after his performance at the championships that season.

"His exceptional performances have helped elevate Catholic Track and Field to new heights, including the team's best finish in the Landmark Conference (2nd place) during his junior year," said Rahn. "His leadership, both on and off the track, has been invaluable to the team's success, making him a deserving recipient of this award."

DANTE POZZI

A native of Medford, N.J., Dante Pozzi is a four-year member of the Catholic baseball program. He has played and started in 138 games throughout his career and holds a career batting average of .290 with 150 hits, 28 doubles, 18 homers and 111 RBI. His 121 career walks are the second-most in program history and his 137 runs scored are the fourth-most in program history. Pozzi was a key contributor in his freshman season on a team that won a program-record 34 games and made the program's first ever trip to the DIII College World Series. During that postseason run, Pozzi collected eight hits and five RBI, including a go-ahead three run homer in the Regional Championship against host Shenandoah, in the NCAA Regional to be named the Winchester Regional Most Valuable Player. He is currently the team leader in RBI with 39, which is the third-most in the conference and is second on team in hits with 50 which ranks fourth in the conference.

"A fantastic leader, Dante has pushed his teammates to train smarter, work harder, and have a great time doing it," said head coach Ross Natoli. "Despite a season ending injury his junior year, Dante used that time to mentor his players on how to be the best version of themselves even if they were not on the field."

Pozzi has been named to the All-Landmark Conference Second Team two times in his career and is poised for a third selection this season. He was also selected to the D3baseball.com All-Region V Third Team in 2022. In addition, his stellar freshman season had him named as the 2022 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year, one of just three players in program history to earn that honor.

"His lasting impact will not only be his on-the-field highlights, but further, his legacy will live on through the teammates he has inspired to follow the tremendous example he has set for all of them," said Natoli.

VICTOR ROSADO
Victor Rosado hails from Miami, Fla. and is a four-year member of the Catholic men's lacrosse program. Rosado has played in 65 games throughout his career, making 53 starts and totalling 118 goals, 103 assists, 221 points and 116 ground balls. He is the programs all-time leader in both assists and points and he holds each of the top three single-season assist totals in program history. The team has reached the Landmark Conference tournament in all four of his seasons, including his freshman season when the team won the Landmark Conference championship 16-8 over Elizabethtown. He recorded an assist in that same season in the team's NCAA Tournament matchup against St. John Fisher.

"I believe that Victor Rosado is deserving of this award because of the outstanding career he has had at Catholic University for the Men's Lacrosse team," said head coach Peter Donley.
Rosado has been named to the All-Landmark Conference team three times in his career, including being named to the first team this season, making him the second player in program history to do so. In addition, he was named as the Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Year. He was a first team selection in his sophomore season with 37 goals and 32 assists and a second team selection in his junior year with 42 goals and 28 assists, both of which are in the top 10 in program history in a single season.

"Since his sophomore season, Victor has started every game that he was healthy for," said Donley. Over that same time frame Victor has been the point leader in every season, and I expect he will be the leading scorer on our team for the 2025 season as well."

MASON STILLWELL
An Annapolis, Md. native, Mason Stillwell is a four-year member of the Catholic football program. He played in 41 games in his career and racked up 214 tackles, nine tackles for loss, seven interceptions, 21 pass deflections, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. In his freshman season, Stillwell led the team with five interceptions and also broke up five passes with 30 tackles. He totaled a career-high in tackles in his senior seasons with 67 and also had a career high in tackles for loss with 3.5.

"Mason Stillwell has been the staple of Catholic University's pass defense for the past four years," said head coach Mike Gutelius. "To play defensive back, you have to have talents besides the measurables. Mason played football with a rare confidence. He is the type of player that transforms any play call into a good one."

In his first two seasons, the Cardinals were in the NEWMAC and Stillwell earned himself first and second team honors on the All-NEWMAC team. Stillwell is also a two-time All-Landmark Honorable Mention recipient as a defensive back.

"Mason leaves behind a team that will miss his prowess but will benefit from his legacy," said Gutelius. "Whether it be as a captain, ballhawk, safety, or corner, Mason's impact on the game will continue to be seen through the way his teammates reach for the athletic standard he has set."
