INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Catholic track & field will send four athletes to compete in five events at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships in Geneva, Ohio this week.
Jevontae Fearwell and
Brigid Byrnes will be first-time competitors for the Cardinals, while
Emily Moehringer and
Clare Marsh make return trips for the Cardinals.
Fearwell will compete in the 100-meter dash on Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the prelims with the final scheduled for 2:30 p.m on Saturday. The senior qualified in a tie for 10th nationally with a personal best time of 10.41 seconds set at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational. Fearwell is the first Catholic men's track athlete to qualify for the NCAA Championships since Paul Drumgoole in the 800 in 1995.
Moehringer, the lone three-time All-American in Catholic women's track & field history, will compete in both the 800 and 1,500 this week in Ohio. Moehringer will run in the 1,500 on Thursday at 5:50 in the preliminary round before taking the track in the 800 prelims on Friday at 4:15 p.m. The finals are scheduled for Saturday at 1:35 (1,500) and 3:00 (800). Moehringer qualified ninth for the 1,500 with a Landmark Conference record time of 4:27.29 and 20th in the 800 with a time of 2:09.89.
Marsh, a 2024 All-American, and Byrnes, will take the track in the 400 hurdle prelims on Thursday at 6:25 p.m. In an extremely fast 400 hurdle season, Byrnes qualified in a tie for 18th nationally with a time of 1:01.90 while Marsh clocked a time of 1:01.92 to qualify 20th. 15 of the 22 competitors clocked times between 1:01.07 and 1:01.93.
