WASHINGTON, D.C. - After a phenomenal freshman season earned her Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year honors, Catholic pitcher
Sophia Colangelo was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region V Second Team.
Colangelo's honor marks three straight seasons with an all-region selection for Catholic and gives the Cardinals three all-region honors under head coach
Sophie Maccarone. Colangelo was preceded by teammate
Katie Scolese and
Sophia Fike in 2024. Colangelo is the ninth NFCA All-Region choice for Catholic since 2010.
Colangelo, a 5-8 pitcher from Jupiter, Fla., stepped into the circle 22 times, making 12 starts this season. She tossed 95.0 innings, pitching to a 1.99 ERA with a team-high 55 strikeouts. Opponents hit just .206 off the freshman as she was named to the All-Landmark Conference First Team.
In 2025, Colangelo had six outings in which she tossed at least four innings and allowed one earned run or fewer. She posted a record of 13-3, the sixth-most wins in a single-season in program history. Her 1.99 ERA ranks seventh in a single-season with a minimum of 50 innings.
