TOWSON, Md. — The Catholic baseball team was well-represented on the 2025 All-Landmark team with a program-record tying seven selections, it was announced today.
Cody Bosak was the lone first team selection for the Cardinals as one of three pitchers to earn first team honors.
This is the second time that Bosak has made the All-Landmark team and it is his first first team selection. Bosak posted the lowest ERA on the team this season and the second-lowest in the Landmark among qualified pitchers at 2.89 over 65.1 innings pitched which was the third-most in the conference. He punched out 53 batters which was the fourth-most in the conference and held opponents to a .246 batting average against him.
Steve Thomas earned a spot on the second team for the second consecutive season as a catcher. Thomas leads the team in batting average this season at .382 as well as hits (63), runs (55) and doubles (17). His 1.071 OPS is also the highest on the squad and is the fifth-highest in the conference this season. His 55 runs set a new program record for runs in a single-season and his 63 hits are tied for the sixth-most in a single season. Thomas was also named the Landmark Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player after going 7-for-15 with four extra-base hits, five RBI and five runs scored during the tournament. The Cardinals had two outfielders make the second team in
Sammy Burman and
Mitchel Johnson. Burman is currently second on the team in batting average at .361 with 57 hits, 10 doubles, two triples and four homers while driving in 36 runs, the third-most on the team. It is the first All-Landmark selection for Burman in his career. Johnson earned the second All-Landmark honor of his career after slashing .296/.450/.547 with 47 hits, 20 of which went for extra-bases and driving in 42 runs which was the second-most on the team and tied for the sixth-most in the conference. His 10 long balls on the season are the fourth-most in a single-season in program history. Johnson also set the program record for walks in a single-season with 45. Rounding out the second-team selections for Catholic was
Roman Tozzi, earning the second All-Landmark honor of his career. He leads the conference in innings pitched with 69.1 and posted a 3.76 ERA while pitching to a 6-2 record. Tozzi racked up 52 strikeouts and held opponents to a .251 batting average. Tozzi pitched at least five innings in all of his outings throughout the season.
Catholic had two members receive All-Landmark Honorable Mention honors in
Sam Fairhurst and
Dante Pozzi to round out the seven selections. Fairhurst earned his first All-Landmark honor after posting a 6-1 record with a 3.19 ERA over 67.2 innings pitched, the second-most in the Landmark. Fairhurst leads the conference in strikeouts, racking up 65, including his 17 strikeout performance against Wilkes which is a Landmark record for strikeouts in a conference game. He earned two wins on the mound during the Landmark Conference Tournament to help the Cardinals go 4-0 and win the Landmark Championship. Pozzi earned the third All-Landmark honor of his career after slashing .331/.438/.479 with 11 doubles, four homers and a team-leading 43 RBI, the fifth-most in the conference. He led the conference with 33 RBI in Landmark games, and his 43 for the season are the ninth-most in a single-season in program history.
The Cardinals begin their NCAA journey later this week when they take on Mount Union in the regionals on Friday, May 16 in Alliance, Ohio. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 pm at Rafeld-Rogers Field.
