FAIRFAX, Va. – Catholic men's track and field's 4x100 relay team broke the conference and program record to highlight day two of Cardinal performances at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational.
Sam Compton, Jevontae Fearwell, James Galang, and
Romell Randolph combined to finish the sprint relay in 41.06. They improved upon the previous record by .27 seconds, topping the time of 41.33 set by four current Cardinals, including Compton and Fearwell, a season ago.Â
Fearwell also had a standout performance in the 100m dash with a personal best. He clocked a 10.41 to remain the second-fastest on the Catholic all-time list in the event and is just .01 seconds away from claiming the program record. Fearwell currently ranks third in the 100, fourth in the 4x100, and 30th with his 4x400 split nationally.
The 400m featured three Cardinals who finished within four places of one another.
Kendrick DuPree led the pack with a time of 51.24 for 28th, followed by
Marco Indelicato who placed 31st with a 51.32 and
Gabe Stypul who placed 32nd with a 51.76.Â
DuPree and Stypul returned to the track alongside Fearwell and
Nick Troy for the 4x400 relay. The squad was able to move into 10th on the performance list after clocking a 3:21.36.Â
Conor Gross ended the weekend with an all-time performance in the 1500m. He ran a 3:52.70 to break the conference record, place 11th overall out of 69 competitors, and move into fifth in program history. He currently ranks 13th in the nation.
The Cardinals return to action next Saturday for the Oscar Moore Invitational.Â
