4x100 Relay Wins Heat, Heads to Finals at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.  — The Catholic men's track and field team had several members compete at the Penn Relays on Friday afternoon in the team's last meet before the Landmark Conference Championships. 

The Cardinals opened up the afternoon with a bang as the 4x100 team that consisted of Sam Compton, Jevontae Fearwell, Romell Randolph, and James Galang took first place in the relay out of 21 teams that competed. The four ran a time of 41.18 to top Lock Haven, who ran a 41.58. The time is the second fastest time in program history in the 4x100.

Compton, Randolph, and Galang also competed in the 4x200 relay along with Sebastian Lopez and clocked in at 1:28.23. That time was the third-fastest in the event in program history and the fastest since 1980.

Fearwell also competed in the 100, the lone Division III athlete to do so, finishing 18th with a time of 10.73 seconds. 

The 4x400 finished off the night with Gabe Stypul, Nick Troy, Kendrick DuPree, and Marco Indelicato clocking a time of 3:22.08. 

The 4x100 team will advance to tomorrow's finals at 4:15 p.m.
