Burman Records 13th Multi-Hit Game in Catholic's Loss to Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.  —  The Catholic baseball team traveled to Elizabethtown to try and pick up a mid-week conference win over the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays grabbed a lead in the early innings and used a strong pitching performance to hold the Cardinals to just one run and come away with a 5-1 victory.

The Blue Jays got the scoring going in the bottom of the second when a run came into score on a wild pitch to take a 1-0 lead. With runners at the corners in the bottom of the third, Danny Prior induced a 6-4-3 double play to pick up two outs, but the second run of the game came in to score to give Elizabethtown a 2-0 lead.

The lone run of the game for Catholic came in the top of the sixth after Chase Falcon came up with a one-out single up the middle. Falcon moved up to second on a wild pitch and with two outs in the inning Steve Thomas poked a single back up the middle to bring Falcon to the plate to make it a 2-1 game.

Elizabethtown broke the game open with a three-spot in the bottom of the seventh to push the lead out to 5-1. Tommy Kanakos came up with the swing of the day, lifting a two-out double into right center field to clear the bases for three RBI to push the lead out to four.

The Cardinals were unable to form a late rally and dropped the game 5-1 to fall to 13-11 on the season.

Sammy Burman led the Cardinals in hits, going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles. He now has 13 multi-hit games on the season which is the most on the team.
