CHERRY HILL, N.J. – Catholic women's rowing sent two boats down the Cooper River during day one at the Knecht Cup on Saturday. Both placed within the top three to start the weekend off strong for the Cardinals.
The women's varsity eight placed second in the DIII heat three featuring all MARC team. The crew of

Anne Mountcastle (6),
Lauren McGinn (5),
Charlotte Fritz (4),
Abigail Harris (3),
Katherine Elizabeth Ma (2) and
Ellie Tynan (bow) finished with a time of 7:58.02, crossing behind only St Mary's who clocked a 7:37.93. The Cardinals bested two Stockton boats along with one from Bryn Mawr and Washington College.

Sadie Mattaliano (coxswain),
Madelyn Smith (stroke),
Madelyn Bronson (3),
Sabrina Apelian (2), and
Marelyn Diaz (bow) placed third in the DIII heat two. They finished in 9:18.74 to top Bryn Mwar, Susquehanna, and Franklin & Marshall. Washington College took the win with a 8:36.59 followed by Stockton who claimed second with a 9:03.77.
Catholic will remain in New Jersey for day two of the Knecht Cup beginning tomorrow morning
