Cardinals Win Three Races to Open Spring Season at Battle on the Brigantine

BRIGANTINE, N.J. – Catholic women's rowing began the spring season by competing in the Battle on the Brigantine on Saturday. The Cardinals won all three of their races against opponents from Jefferson, Franklin & Marshall, Washington College, Stockton, and Pacific Lutheran.

Each event started at the Brigantine Lighthouse and ended at the Brigantine Yacht Club. The Catholic's varsity eight boating was victorious in the grand final with a time of 7:042.1 after taking first in the opening heat with a time of 6:40.04. The boat featured Katherine Hourani (coxswain), Bridget Robben (stroke), Lauren McGinn (7), Anne Mountcastle (6), Claudia Hindley (5), Katherine Elizabeth Ma (4), April Penny (3), Charlotte Fritz (2), and Ellie Tynan (bow). 

The Cardinals' women's varsity four boating featured Sadie Mattaliano (coxswain), Madelyn Smith (stroke), Abigail Harris (3), Natalia Pardo-Neira (2), and Marelyn Diaz (bow). They topped the field with a time of 8:39.3, topping F&M who finished with a 9:52.5.

Next, the Cardinals will travel to Cherry Hill, N.J. for the Knecht Cup on April 12.
