Princeton, N.J. - Catholic men's and women's head rowing coach,
Katie O'Driscoll, recently completed a USRowing Certification Course and is now a Level 3 High-Performance Coach. She is one of 16 coaches to graduate from the course this year, USRowing announced this month.
O'Driscoll was invited to complete the highest level of certification by the rowing national governing body. Over a six month period, she completed 11 elite coaching modules designed to advance skills in fields such as biomechanics, advanced rigging, long-term athlete development, and rowing philosophy. The graduates completed over 100 hours of training to earn their certification.
O'Driscoll began her coaching career in 2010 and has taught at all levels along the way including juniors, masters, collegiate, and pre-elite athletes. An inaugural fellow of Community Rowing's Institute for Rowing Leadership, she has sought to improve her knowledge in all facets of the sport ever since. Among her stops as a coach have been CRI, the Winsor School, Capital Rowing Club, DC Strokes, Seattle Rowing Club, USRowing sculling development camps, and the University of Washington.
In 2017, O'Driscoll was hired to start the men's and women's varsity programs at Catholic. The fledgling program now boasts a roster of over 60 athletes with both squads achieving multiple podium finishes at Head of the Schuylkill, Knecht Cup, and the MARC Conference Championships, alongside a silver medal for her freshmen women at the Dad Vail Championships in 2023.
The Cardinals begin their spring rowing season on Saturday, March 29 as they travel to New Jersey for the Battle on the Brigantine.
