Cardinals Collect Fourth Place at Landmark Championships

LANDOVER, Md.  — The Catholic men's track and field team totaled 74 points at the Landmark Conference Championships to finish in fourth place.

The men's 4x200 team brought home first place and the gold medal for the second straight season. The team consisted of Sam Compton, Sebastian Lopez, James Galang and Jevontae Fearwell and they set a program record in the event with a time of 1:29.50 to bring home first place in the event.

Gabe Stypul pulled out a silver medal with a PR in the pole vault reaching a mark of 4.25m to collect second place. That ties Stypul for the sixth best performance in program history. He earned the medal after receiving All-Landmark Honorable Mention last year.

Conor Gross also collected a silver medal in the mile run, clocking in at 4:23.13 to finish in second place in the event. It was the first time in Gross's career that he earned a medal at the Landmark Championships. 

The Cardinals also had success in another relay, the 4x400, finishing in second to come away with silver. Nick Troy, Marco Indelicato, Peter Winter and Stypul pulled out a time of 3:26.48 for the third best time in program history. 

Fearwell earned bronze finishing in third place in the 60m at 6.98. It is the fifth time in his career that Fearwell will finish with all conference honors at the track championships. 

The Cardinals are back in action on Saturday, March 8 in Medford, Mass. at the Tufts National Qualifying Meet with events starting at 12 pm.
